ATTENTION Adopters, Rescues & Shelters: If there is a specific dog(s) that you are interested in, call the Shelter during open hours to sign up.
Per State Law stray dogs are held at the Shelter for four (4) Business Days to give the owner a chance to reclaim them. The “Release Date” is the date the dog is available for Adoption, Rescue or Transfer. If for medical and/or behavioral reasons the dog is not adoptable, it will be marked “Pick Up By Owner Only”. If you have any questions, please call the Shelter during open hours at 517-639-3210.
Please Note:
- It is Michigan State Law that any animal adopted from a Shelter must get spayed or neutered.
- It is Michigan State Law that all dogs (no exceptions) must be licensed and the license must be on the dog. Approximately 60% of the dogs brought into this Shelter have a collar on with no license and 40% have no collar at all.
- It is against Michigan State Law to dump an animal anywhere in the State of Michigan including at an Animal Shelter after it is closed.
